Sleep Optimization


Sleep steals a large portion of our conscious life.

People tell me they love sleeping. I clarify that they don’t love sleeping, they love falling asleep and waking up. The bit in the middle is completely lost to their awareness.

The only benefit of actual sleep is regeneration.

And sleeping less in short naps may provide just as much benefit, if not more, than sleeping in one long go.

My experiment with polyphasic sleep has been a wild ride into gaining more insight about my capacity for physical discomfort, the potential of the brain and body to adapt to new conditions, and my struggle with personal discipline.
