Flashpacker

My new favorite word.

Flashpacker means 'a modern backpacker, jacked up with digital gadgetry, extra spending money, globe trotting for adventure, discovery, contribution, and growth'.

On 10 January 2006 I begun 14 months of traveling South East Asia, freelancing from my laptop with GPS Internet access and beach flip flops.

It was one of the best things I have ever done for my professional career. The freelance experience, the chance to unwind, time off to learn new things, and I came back to a corporate career in 2007 with a new direction.

Now, once again, for 2010, I am heading off. Having gone through 3 jobs, from SEO Manager and Copywriter to Online Marketing Manager to Head of Marketing, I am donning the backpack once again, and heading this time, for South America.
