Social Networking Sites Used As Personal Productivity Software?

by Gavriel Shaw

Here's what I used to do for managing web sites I want to keep track of and visit regularly.

I created a web page using web design software and put on it lots of links that I want fast access to.

Then I set that web page as the home page in my browser.

So whenever I opened up the internet browser, I would immediately have access to one web page with lots of links under lots of categories for everything I wanted access to on the Internet.

Well maybe you don't know how to use web design software.

Maybe you want something a little more dynamic.

You've probably used [tag]social networking sites[/tag] already, and in particular I'm going to refer to [tag]social bookmarking[/tag] sites.

Below this post you'll see a link that says 'share this' which leads you to a selection of buttons that you can press and bookmark this post to your social bookmarking account.

So what I decided to do was scrap my web page with all those links, which has starting to get a little large, and opted for installing my own social bookmarking software. it's working great. And you can use it to, Free, and together we'll start a little community of people interested in organized living, that bookmark web sites that we personally feel help us to organize life via a key selection of web sites.

If you are familiar with social bookmarking already, then please consider the value of a carefully developed social bookmarking site geared towards social networking for organized living.

The social bookmarking site that I've created for this is called Organize Your Life (the same name as my Folderarchy solution found at Organize Your Life.

The new social bookmarking site is located at http://bookmarking.organizedr.com.

You can create an account. Add buttons to your browser toolbars easily. Bookmark web sites and pages, add tags, explore other peoples bookmarked pages, and make any pages that you add private so only you can see it.

It's very simple to use, very effective as personal productivity software for managing your activities online, and it's Free, and it's part of an effort for us to social network with each other given that we're both interested in organized living.

As an example of what you might bookmark. Perhaps you have an account with MySpace, with Orkut, and with Facebook. Well how do you usually get to those sites? Takes a while to find the links usually doesn't it? Unless they're well bookmarked.

See the links I've made public from my own bookmarked pages, and join in. I look forward to building our social networking site for bookmarking using it as free personal productivity software.

The site again is http://bookmarking.organizedr.com.
